Terra
Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 19, 2026
Terra is built to keep your activity data on your device. You do not need a Terra account to use the app, Terra does not sell your personal information, and Terra is designed so your imported workouts and map history are not sent to Terra-operated servers for the core experience.
What Terra Uses
Depending on the permissions you grant and the features you use, Terra may process the following information on your device:
- Health and workout data you choose to import from Apple Health
- Route data associated with imported workouts
- Photo metadata used to build optional photo journeys
- Location data derived from workouts or photos you import
- Files you choose to import manually, such as GPX, FIT, or CSV exports
- App preferences such as map display choices, icon selection, and onboarding state
How Terra Uses It
Terra uses this information to import and display workouts, calculate map coverage and scores, build in-app summaries and widgets, support optional photo-journey features, and remember your preferences.
Where Your Data Lives
Terra is designed as a local-first app. Based on the current app implementation:
- No user account is required
- Your imported workouts, routes, photo metadata, and preferences are stored locally on your device
- No Terra-operated backend is used for syncing your workout history
- Terra does not sell your personal information
If this changes in a future release, this policy will be updated before that change ships.
Health Data
If you grant Apple Health access, Terra reads the workout data needed to import activities into the app. Terra uses that information to update your map, scores, summaries, and widgets.
Terra does not use Health data for advertising, marketing, or sale to data brokers.
Photos and Location
If you grant Photos access, Terra may read the metadata needed to create optional photo journeys. If you grant location access, Terra uses location data to show nearby context and improve map-based features.
You can revoke these permissions at any time in iOS Settings.
Your Choices
- Choose whether to connect Apple Health
- Choose whether to enable photo-journey features
- Revoke permissions in iOS Settings
- Remove imported local data from the app where supported
If you delete the app, iOS may also remove Terra's local data, subject to normal iOS backup and restore behavior.
Sharing and Legal Requests
Terra does not share imported workout or photo-history data with advertisers. Terra may only disclose information if required to comply with applicable law, regulation, or a valid legal process.
Children
Terra is a general-audience fitness and mapping app. Because Terra does not require an account, it does not intentionally collect account-registration information from children through a Terra-operated service.
Changes and Contact
Terra may update this Privacy Policy as the product evolves. When this policy changes materially, the published version will include an updated effective date.
